After banning all of them he realized two of them had a lot of viewers and now his shard lost exposure. The rest of the guild got banned by association. The only 'proof' he had was that they reported the exploit to him 6 months prior and therefor must have been the guilty ones. Eventually he accused a couple of players over achievement exploit. Rather than fixing the design, he made up new rules on the go and kept looking for excuses to ban them. Obvious not to the liking to Owyn to make content more accessible for the masses. Basically had a monopoly on endgame content. There was a very competitive guild in the beginning who finished/raided nearly every miniboss, boss and shrine. Looking for a fresh start? UO Ages or Angel Island It has a stable population but it's passed it's peak where more players are leaving than actually joining it. One of the older server like UO Forever that hasn't run it's course yet. Still the PVP focus will attract a good amount of players but I expect it to become another toxic pit. The fact that it needs to be relauched should tell you how it's managed. UO Hybrid: I think they are planning a relaunch in october. I consider this the best pick at this time, but like Angel Island it's struggling with it's population. They are toying around with 'seasonal' play which opens a lot of future potencial but right now its a bit like a regular UO waiting for more features to be added. It's been 3 weeks(?) and most of it got patched out by now. UO Ages: Another fresh server, that had a premature release. A lot of players left over the last year and it's just being milked now by the owner. UO Forever: A few years ago, the place to be and had a bit of everything. The real question is, will it survive a second launch? 6/10

The owner Adam has the best intentions but he's surrounded by powertripping staff. UO Angel Island: Recently launched, population is quite poor, has some customization where dexers rule pvp due to being mountless. The biggest downside is the tyrant owner who covers up all the shit and treatens players to ban them if he gets exposed. They have a huge expansion coming up, which will bring back a lot of players. It favors blue players and should be labeled as a trammel shard. UO Outland: Heavy customized, lots of PVM options, lots of crafting options, but PVP is shit. I'll try to be objective, but as you can see by the number of downvotes on all of the replies people are too invested into their prefered shard so they sabotage the rest. It's quite a remarkable achievement and worth checking out at the very least - huge new 3 year expansion happening in a few weeks as well. You won't be able to relive a classic UO experience on Outlands, but you will get to experience all the familiar mechanics of classic UO melded with modernized RPG progression systems in a way no one else has managed. The development team's dedication to consistently pushing out new content and systems shows, not to mention all the unsung technical achievement both with contributions to the now ubiquitous CUO, and to make a UO server of this scope and size function as well as it does - tons of custom artwork/crafts/clothing made by a lot of dedicated contributors from the community as well, all carefully curated to fit within UO's original 2d artwork. It has a very large and very active playerbase - the largest on freeservers by quite a margin. It has a lot of progression systems to sink your teeth into and scale your character out over the long term. The world and PVM content is custom from top to bottom, there's far too many things to mention specifically that have been fleshed out or newly introduced to go over here, but the game still feels mechanically familiar to UO. PVP is mostly T2A with minor alterations, and all the custom PVM systems get turned off in PVP so you don't have to worry about wonky interactions with new systems in PVP. If you're okay with broadly expanded PVM power progression systems based mechanically in T2A/UOR, it's hard to go wrong with Outlands.

I'll shill for Outlands since it's where I've landed when I started looking to play UO a while ago.
